While going to school at Lake Area Tech, I have also been working a couple of jobs. Since the business program at LATI doesn’t have school on Friday’s, I work at my High School in Canby, MN. I am a substitute Paraprofessional and I get to work with kids of all ages. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I don’t have class till 2:30pm so I get to work at the school until 1:15pm and then go to class in Watertown. I absolutely love my job and I wouldn’t trade these kids for anything. I have been asked on many occasions why I don’t become a teacher like my mom and sister, and my answer is the same every time, “I could be a paraprofessional all day everyday but I could not be a teacher everyday, there is a big difference.”
My other job is being a waitress at a bar and grill on a lake. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with. This waitress job is only on the weekends so I can earn some extra cash when I can. I have been a waitress ever since I was 14 years old and I have had nothing but good experiences where I have worked. Being a waitress is defiantly not for everyone but if you have that special trait in you, it can be a lot of fun.
